Ruger has teamed up with Magpul to deliver a new variant of the LCP MAX chambered in .380 Auto, this time wearing Magpul’s Enhanced Handgun Grip (EHG). The collaboration brings a purpose-built grip module to one of the smallest and lightest pocket pistols on the market, wrapping it in a package that Ruger says improves control and shootability without growing the platform’s footprint.
The EHG features Magpul’s 3/4-scale TSP texture, which is designed to provide a secure purchase without chewing up clothing during concealed carry, a relevant consideration for a pistol this size.
The grip module also incorporates a higher beavertail, an undercut trigger guard, and a longer trigger-pull length, all of which Ruger says work together to minimize recoil and muzzle rise. A more tactile, reversible magazine release rounds out the ergonomic improvements, making one-handed mag changes more positive.
At 11.2 oz. unloaded and 0.75″ wide at the slide, this is still a pocket gun in every sense of the word. The height comes in at 4.78″, slightly taller than standard LCP MAX models, which Ruger notes helps shooters with larger hands get a better grip on the lightweight pistol. The slide has been redesigned aesthetically to loosely mirror the look of Ruger’s RXM, while retaining crisp serrations and a snag-free profile. A black-nitride finish is applied to both the slide and the 2.80″ barrel.
Sighting is handled by a tritium front sight with a white outline, paired with a drift-adjustable, squared, blacked-out rear sight featuring a generous U-notch. Ruger also engineered improvements into the internals, including updated magazine feed lips, feed ramp, and extractor. The patented barrel cam geometry, which delays unlocking and slows the slide to reduce felt recoil, is also present on this model.
The LCP MAX with Magpul EHG ships with a 10-round magazine and a new 13-round magazine purpose-built for the EHG, complete with an integrated Magpul grip extension. Existing 12-round magazines are also compatible. A manual safety, soft pocket holster, and magazine loader are all included at the $449 MSRP. The gun is currently listed as limited availability on Ruger’s website.
The Magpul EHG RG380 grip module will also be sold as a standalone accessory in Black, Stealth Gray, FDE, and ODG, available at Magpul.com starting in May 2026.
