Springfield Armory has announced the addition of a new entry to its SAINT Victor lineup: the SAINT Victor 5.5″ 9mm PDW, designed to deliver rugged performance in an extremely compact package. For those of us who consider short 9mm PDWs the pinnacle of firearms, and the author counts himself firmly in that camp, this one is worth a close look. After all, most shooting ranges – or your home – don’t require a long barrel, and hushed 9mms are the best.
The new PDW pairs an ultra-short 5.5″ barrel with the SB Tactical HBPDW collapsible brace, yielding a highly maneuverable platform built for tight spaces. Forged upper and lower receivers provide the structural foundation, while a full-length top Picatinny rail accommodates optics and accessories. Or if you want to use one or two of the M-LOK positions? The Aimpoint ACRO looks great on this gun, but would you pick something different?
The operating system is direct blowback, simple and proven.
The HBPDW brace offers three-position adjustability via a lock/release button on the left side, allowing shooters to dial in their preferred length of pull for better handling. Imagine if they had gone for some kind of MP5 solution for the charging handle?
The removable muzzle device exposes 1/2-28 threads for direct suppressor attachment. I wonder if that points in some kind of direction?
Feeding duties are handled by a Colt-pattern steel 32-round magazine.
The control package rounds out with a B5 Systems Type 23 P-Grip, ambidextrous 45-degree short-throw safety, and a nickel boron-coated flat trigger.
MSRP is set at $1,399. More details on the product page.
