The Sightmark Strikon VMP 1-4×22 SFP Fiber V2 lands as a refinement of a sight category that’s quietly useful but perpetually overlooked. Prismatic 1-4x magnification isn’t red-dot speed and it isn’t a full low-power variable optic, but it occupies legitimate middle ground for shooters who run modern carbines and need true 1x for close work without surrendering the glass and magnification of 4x for mid-range precision.

The V2 responds directly to the feedback that made the original work but less than it could have. The most visible change is the shift to capped turrets. The original used low-profile exposed adjustments that traded zero protection for tool-free convenience. That’s a workable tradeoff until you’re yanking the rifle into a truck bed or working cover during training and your zero walks. The V2 caps those turrets, making the optic more honest about what it is: a setup you zero once and leave alone.
Mounting got equal attention. The V2 maintains the Aimpoint Micro footprint that made the original stack easily with offset or piggyback setups, but now ships with hardware for four centerline heights, 1.15″ through 2.32″ in 0.39″ increments. That flexibility covers different rifle builds, cheek welds, and sight stack geometries without sourcing additional mounts.
The accessories package expanded from a bare minimum to something actually useful. You get three risers, a honeycomb filter, rubber covers, throw levers in both sizes, a CR2032, a Torx key, a turret tool, full screw sets for each mount height, and a cloth. It’s the difference between opening the box ready to shoot and spending an hour sourcing basic parts.
The optic itself remains unchanged where it matters. The CRF-4 MIL fiber-wire reticle runs second focal plane, meaning the reticle stays the same apparent size across the magnification range, which is the right choice for this class. Eleven brightness settings span nine daylight levels and two tuned for night vision compatibility. Shake Awake saves battery by going dormant after 10 minutes and waking on movement. From a CR2032, you’re looking at roughly 1,500 hours on the lowest setting, six hours running high brightness all day.
Optically, the prism design delivers what it promises: compact footprint, bright image, and fast target acquisition. The 22mm objective and fully multi-coated glass produce 89.5% light transmission. Field of view runs 133 feet at 100 yards on 1x down to 35.8 feet on 4x. Eye relief spans 3.94″ to 3.54″, which plays well with proper scope placement and isn’t punishing on higher recoil platforms. The housing is 6061 aluminum with a matte black finish, rated IP67 for waterproofing and nitrogen-filled against fogging. At 5.83 inches long and 17.6 ounces with the 1.54″ mount, it’s compact enough for any modern carbine platform.
Adjustments are 1/10 MIL clicks with 23 MIL of total travel in both windage and elevation, enough for practical zeroing and hold-over at mid-range work. Sightmark rates it for .308 caliber maximum recoil.
So the V2 doesn’t reinvent the original concept, which already seems to have worked fine. It just removes friction where the original had it, giving you a purposeful 1x-4x sight that stays zeroed, ships ready to mount, and delivers the optical clarity and speed that define the prismatic design.
