Primary Weapon Systems has released the MK107 MOD 2-M, a short-barreled rifle in .300 Blackout that weighs 5.2 pounds complete. The rifle features a 7.75-inch barrel with a 1:5 twist rate, machined from 416 stainless steel. According to PWS, the barrel is designed to deliver accuracy with heavy-grain subsonic loads.
The platform runs on PWS’s long-stroke piston system with a three-setting adjustable gas block. According to the company, this system allows users to tune gas flow for different ammunition types and is optimized for suppressor use. The rifle ships with the PWS FRC 2-Port Compensator, which PWS states is compatible with both suppressed and non-suppressed fire, and works with Rearden Atlas and PWS PUB suppressor mounts.
The lower receiver is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and is ambidextrous. PWS designed the lower without a forward assist and incorporated a flared magazine well and built-in trigger guard. The handguard uses a PicLok system combining Picatinny and MLOK mounting surfaces. The rifle ships with a Radian Raptor ambidextrous charging handle, a mil-spec trigger with a 5.5 to 6.5-pound pull, and a Q Shorty stock and buffer system. The receivers and handguard are finished in OD Green Cerakote, one of my favorite colors, so everything here looks very tempting.
PWS claims a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee with quality ammunition and includes a lifetime manufacturer warranty covering the long-stroke piston system.
