The Korea Coast Guard awarded KelTec a new contract for KSG Tactical bullpup shotguns on June 2, 2026, according to a statement from the Florida-based firearms manufacturer. The agency already operates more than 200 of these shotguns across its patrol vessel fleet and is now expanding that inventory.
This marks a repeat purchase from an agency that has fielded the platform for several years. The shotguns fire rubber and impact rounds during maritime interdiction operations, including efforts to stop illegal fishing in Korean waters.
“A repeat award means the platform has already done the job,” said Parker Rosenberger, Director of Business Development at KelTec, in the company’s statement. “The South Korean Coast Guard has had these shotguns in service on the water for years. Coming back to us for more says something no product brochure can say.”
The shotguns will be deployed nationwide across the agency’s patrol vessels, according to the announcement. Korea Coast Guard Headquarters finalized the contract in June.
The KSG Tactical serves specifically in less-lethal applications for the Korea Coast Guard. Crews fire rubber and impact rounds during maritime interdiction, a role that requires both reliability and adaptability in a saltwater environment.
The shotgun’s compact bullpup configuration allows it to function in the confined spaces typical of patrol vessels. Two magazine tubes provide operational flexibility, according to KelTec’s description of the platform.
KelTec worked through two partners to complete the sale. Civil Arms Inc., the company’s U.S.-based export partner, handled the international transaction. GNW Korea Ltd. provided representation and support within South Korea.
Both companies helped KelTec meet the Korea Coast Guard’s operational and procurement requirements throughout the process. “International partnerships are how this work gets done,” Rosenberger said in the statement.
“Civil Arms and GNW Korea Ltd. have supported this program at every stage, and they are the reason the Korea Coast Guard has what it needs to carry out its mission.” A second purchase from the same agency after years of field use indicates operational satisfaction.
