Sightmark’s solution for Glock owners who want optics is the G-Shot. That’s not the name of a West Coast gangster rapper with smooth delivery; it’s the name of this optic that’s intended to work on a Glock without any milling, adapter plates or any other gunsmithing trickery or accessories. It’s supposed to work with the majority of Glock’s Gen 3, Gen 4 and Gen 5 pistols, including the G17, G19 and G26, fitted directly to their unmodified factory slides.
The G-Shot is supposed to cover all your needs, from EDC, home defense to practice time at the range. The sight has a 3 MOA red dot reticle, with its brightness auto-adjusting based on ambient light. The sight’s housing is cast aluminum and is textured on the sides so it works as a grip for racking the slide, if needed. The G-Shot is dust-resistant and water-resistant, with an IP67 rating.
The sight uses a single CR1632 battery, and is supposed to get 16,000 hours of continuous use from a battery—practically speaking, that’s more than a year’s battery life. This lets you leave the sight on without having to shut it down manually to save battery, as long as you remember to change it out every few months.
