Off Grid Suppressors, headquartered in Shevlin, Minnesota, is introducing the Operator TI, a purpose-built 5.56 NATO suppressor constructed from aerospace-grade titanium using additive manufacturing. The company is positioning the can as a dedicated alternative to the multi-caliber compromise suppressors that dominate much of the current market.
The manufacturing method is the other headline. Off Grid uses metal 3D printing to produce the Operator TI as a single monolithic titanium structure, rather than machining or welding separate components together. The company claims this opens up internal flow geometries that would be physically impossible to achieve through conventional subtractive manufacturing and eliminates the potential failure points that come with welded assemblies. Every unit is produced individually in the United States.
At 8.5 ounces and 6.5 inches long, the Operator TI is compact for a centerfire rifle can, and the 1.5-inch diameter keeps it from adding significant bulk to the host rifle’s profile. Thread pitch is the standard 1/2×28. While the suppressor is optimized for 5.56 NATO, Off Grid lists compatible calibers as 6mm Creedmoor, .22-250, and .243, which gives the platform some useful flexibility without turning it into a do-everything tube.
