A true one-of-a-kind, the Cabot Guns Apex Jurassic 1911 is where prehistoric menace meets celestial wonder—and somehow makes it look effortless. Created to complement Apex Fossil, another singular Cabot 1911, this extraordinary pistol draws inspiration from two subjects that never fail to captivate the human imagination: dinosaurs and meteorites. Frankly, if there were ever a pairing guaranteed to stop dinosaurs mid-sentence, this is it.
This story begins in the ancient Gobi Desert, where towering dunes glow deep orange beneath the setting sun, and long shadows stretch across the sand. In this dramatic landscape, a Raptor moves with lethal grace—swift, silent, and perfectly adapted for the hunt. Then, in an instant, the blackening sky splits with a blazing streak of fire. A meteorite, primordial in origin and hardened by its journey through the cold, dark void, falls toward Earth. The predator never sees it coming, and while the Gobi Desert has provided us with essential evidence of how dinosaurs lived, the Yucatan crater provides evidence of how they died. History, as it turns out, has a flair for dramatic timing.
That collision of ancient life and cosmic force became the artistic foundation for the Cabot Guns Apex Jurassic 1911. It is more than a firearm; it is an “art pistol” in the most literal sense, brought to life by award-winning Master Metal Engraver Richard Quecke.
The pistol itself is a remarkable canvas: a precision-engineered Cabot Guns 1911 crafted from Damascus steel, carbon steel, and genuine extraterrestrial meteorite. Master Damascus Blacksmith Jason Morrissey developed a unique “fossil” Damascus specifically for this project, creating an organic texture that transforms the slide into something resembling a sedimentary fossil bed. It looks less like a manufactured object and more like it was excavated—very carefully—from a lost prehistoric world.
Cabot’s master gunsmiths then applied an exclusive selective-etch process, preparing the surface for Quecke’s extraordinary hand engraving. Across the slide, his deep-cut carving recreates an archaeological dig site, scattering Raptor bones in lifelike relief. A 24kt gold inlay of the iconic sickle-shaped Raptor claw punctuates the composition with unmistakable drama.
Quecke contrasts those earthy skeletal remains with a refined Bulino-engraved vignette of a living Raptor, alert and locked on target. The effect is striking: life and death, motion and memory, predator and relic—all captured in steel.
And then there is the meteorite, because apparently ordinary materials simply would not do. The grips are crafted from actual meteorite, the very substance that symbolizes the extinction of the species depicted in the engraving. The trigger also features a 4-billion-year-old piece of iron meteorite, placing a relic of eons directly beneath the shooter’s fingertip.
The custom carbon-steel frame is finished in Cabot Guns’ Fire and Ice rustic patina, complementing the fossilized scene’s raw, earthen feel. Small parts and controls are finished in a brushed bronze PVD, bright accents that evoke the brass tools of archaeologists—those determined souls who bring ancient giants back into view, one careful brushstroke at a time.
Yet for all its artistic grandeur, the Apex Jurassic remains a fully capable, high-precision Government-size 1911. It is not merely a display piece, though it certainly commands a long stare. It is a functional work of mechanical excellence, infused with narrative, craftsmanship, and a sense of wonder rare in any medium.
All bones tell a story. The bones of the Apex Jurassic 1911 tell a story of extinction, discovery, and artistry on an almost geologic scale. Raw, authentic, and unforgettable, it stands as a captivating fusion of fine art, ancient Earth, and material from the stars.
Unfortunately, this one-of-a-kind appears to have already been sold, and the specific MSRP for the Apex Jurassic is not listed. Cabot’s Artisan Damascus custom pistols start at $25,000, and Full Damascus pistols start at $90,000, which should help give a good idea of where the price falls.
