The firearm marketplace today for handguns has fully embraced the adoption of red dots, and I am here for it! Handgun optics afford us a lot of benefits like faster target engagements, and they can be a workaround for some people who have vision impairments. Instead of focusing on objects at 3 varying distances from your eye – rear right, front sight, and the target – you can simply have a red dot overlaid visually on the target you’re engaging. So, whether you are hunting or shooting steel, it is a more effective way of engagement. Additionally, if red is a difficult color for you to see, manufacturers like Trijicon are also offering green dots. So, today we are going to take a look at the Trijicon RMR Type 2 3.25 MOA Green Dot, Adjustable LED to see how it performs. Let’s dive in!

A Word from Trijicon on the New RMR Type 2 3.25 MOA Green Dot
“The RMR is designed with a patented housing shape that absorbs impacts and diverts stresses away from the lens to increase durability. It also offers redesigned and upgraded electronics that have been proven to perform when mounted on slide ride pistols and other small arms. It’s suitable for military, law enforcement, concealed carry self-defense, target shooting, and hunting applications. All RMR Adjustable LED sights are compatible with night vision devices, with the 3.25 MOA dot size being the most popular
The RMR® Adjustable LED sight puts the illumination control in the user’s hands. Easy-to-use buttons on the sides of the optic allow the user to adjust the illumination brightness, toggle between manual and automatic modes, and power down the RMR for storage. Additionally, the user can also lock out the buttons so that the RMR functions in automatic mode only. This ensures that inadvertent button pushes do not cause a loss of aiming solution.”

What’s the Upsell? What’s the 30-Second Elevator Pitch?
So, what’s the upsell? What’s the metaphorical and literal 30-second elevator pitch? - Built to Handle the Worst – Designed to be waterproof to 20 meters (66 ft.)

Field Use – Trijicon RMR Type 2 3.25 MOA Green Dot, Adjustable LED
So, how did the Trijicon RMR Type 2 3.25 MOA Green Dot, Adjustable LED perform out in the field?… To start we needed to get this green dot saddled up before we could put it through its paces.
Mounting
I chose my Springfield Armory Echelon 4.0C Comp handgun to get this review off and running. With the Variable Interface System (V.I.S.) for mounting optics plus the included components that come with this Trijicon green dot, I had everything I needed.
I affectionately refer to the Variable Interface System (V.I.S.) as a “peg and post” system that allows for the mounting of nearly any handgun optic imaginable. Add in the fact that the RMR has been around for years, and I easily mounted this optic to my Echelon 4.0C Comp in a matter of minutes.
Test Firing
For what I would call recoil testing, or simply live fire, I shot some Remington Range 9mm 115 Grain FMJ as well as some 124 Grain FMJ. This isn’t spicy ammo in the least. Rather, just a good, general baseline for shooting a 9mm at the range. Unsurprisingly, the optic held up and maintained a zero (once one was established) with no issue.
Accuracy
The 1 MOA click adjustments for windage and elevation might not sound very refined for people who use a lot of riflescopes, or are unfamiliar with handgun optics, but it is perfect for shooting close distances (like 25 yards or less). I hastily established a 10-yard zero and then went to town ventilating some paper targets.
I was able to achieve and maintain more than adequate accuracy even with a bit of Monster coursing through my veins due to my sleep deprivation of being a new father and my son not allowing my wife and I to sleep anymore.
Sight Picture
While I’m 50% deaf due to hunting and firearms use my whole life, I thankfully have perfect vision – knock on wood. That being said, I do like the colorway of green as a dot. On those extremely bright days at an outdoor range, or even well-lit indoor environments, I can absolutely see and appreciate the benefits of a green dot versus a traditional red one.
It is difficult to photograph a green dot, but in testing I found the Trijicon RMR Type 2 3.25 MOA Green Dot to be very crisp and defined. It never flickered or was faint, which are classic handgun optic issues.
Final Thoughts
So, what are my final thoughts on the Trijicon RMR Type 2 3.25 MOA Green Dot, Adjustable LED?… Overall, this green dot meets or exceeds all of my expectations. You can jack this against a wood 2×4 for gun range tomfoolery… the dot is vibrant and easy to see… it maintains a zero well… and the quality and durability is simply legendary at this point. While the asking price is a bit spendy, for people who authentically want a bulletproof green dot, this is it. Look no further.
