Derya Arms is no stranger to taking an established platform and pushing it further than buyers expect at a certain price point, and the new RAN and RAN-X series might be the clearest expression of that philosophy yet. The Turkish-American manufacturer has launched three lever-action models built around a straightforward premise: stop making buyers spend hundreds of dollars on aftermarket modifications to get where they want to be. Everything enthusiasts have historically sourced separately, threaded barrels, M-LOK forends, Picatinny rails, and adjustable furniture, comes standard from the factory.
The lineup breaks into three distinct configurations, which I think will conjure very different types of buyers. Let’s run through the different options, so all becomes clear and understandable:
The RAN is the traditional-looking option, wearing a laser-engraved Turkish walnut stock and forend with integrated M-LOK slots. It runs a 20-inch barrel, comes finished in polished nickel, and ships at $849 MSRP. Capacity is 10 rounds in .357 Magnum and 9 rounds in .44 Magnum or .45 Long Colt, all feeding through a mono-block steel receiver, which Derya says reduces vibration and improves cycling consistency compared to jointed designs.
Step up to the RAN Ironwolf and the walnut gives way to a patented adjustable aluminum Ironwolf buttstock with QD sling mount, M-LOK ammo slots, height wheel, and adjustable cheek rest.
The barrel shortens to 18 inches, the finish shifts to black chrome, and the price moves to $999. Capacity stays the same as the RAN, and the core feature set, threaded barrel, M-LOK forend, adjustable rear sight with integrated Picatinny rail, all carry over.
The RAN-X (below) is the one that’ll generate the most conversation. Derya took the same platform and put it in a 12-inch barrel pistol format with the Steelfang PSB Ironwolf grip system in place of a stock, arriving at an overall length of 22.83 inches.
It weighs 5.48 pounds, finishes in black Melonite, and carries a $899 MSRP. Capacity drops to 5 rounds in .357 Magnum and 4 rounds in .44 Mag or .45 LC, and Derya is listing it as compliant in California, Maryland, and Massachusetts, which opens the market considerably for a pistol-format lever gun chambered in serious pistol calibers.
All three share the same foundational feature set: threaded barrel for suppressor use, M-LOK compatible forend with Picatinny rail, fixed front iron sight with an adjustable rear that also accepts optics, and a rebounding hammer mechanism for passive safety. Derya also claims legal-in-every-state status for the rifle-format models, which matters for a platform that sometimes runs into legal gray areas depending on configuration.
“The RAN and RAN-X are the result of spending serious time in the market, talking directly with shooters, and building exactly what the lever-action community has been asking for,” said Dustin Jones of Derya. “Shooters have been spending hundreds of dollars on aftermarket modifications just to get their rifle or pistol where they want it, we decided to build all of that in from day one. The RAN-X pistol with the Steelfang PSB system is especially exciting, it’s compact, powerful, and ready for anything.”
