VKTR Industries is making its patented ambidextrous lower receivers available as stand-alone products for the first time, opening them up to shooters who previously could only get one by purchasing a complete VKTR rifle. The VK1 Complete Lower is now available to dealers, distributors, and the law enforcement market.
The fire control group is a 4.5 lb. single-stage Hiperfire unit. The lower ships with a Magpul K2 grip, a carbine buffer and spring, and a mil-spec buffer tube, and buyers can configure it with the tube only, a Magpul SL-M stock, or an SB Tactical SBA3 brace. The receiver is compatible with all small-frame AR calibers, weighs 2.06 lbs., and is available in Armor Black. As a serialized component, it must transfer through an FFL. There’s an 8-10 week lead time for direct orders, though VKTR notes the lower may be available sooner through authorized dealers.
At $599.99, does the Hiperfire trigger and full ambi billet control set justify the price over a standard mil-spec lower build?

If you were building a piston-driven AR from scratch, would a complete ambi lower like this be your starting point, or do you prefer to spec your own FCG and controls?
