Back at SHOT Show, Howa announced its new Fence Line series of rifles, but as with a lot of stuff from SHOT Show, we’ve had to wait a while for these rifles to actually make their way to buyers in the U.S. market. Now, the Howa Fence Line rifles are shipping across the States, including short-action, long-action, magnum and even mini action choices.
Made in Japan @ TFB:
Familiar face, with a new coat of paint
When the Fence Line rifles debuted at the SHOT Show, they looked familiar, even though they’re new models. That’s because they’re based on Howa’s long-in-the-lineup Model 1500 action, with polymer stocks, a modern finish on the metal and muzzle brake, three-position safety, hammer-forged barrels and two-stage triggers.
As Daniel told you at the rifles’ launch in the winter of 2026:
“Howa’s Fence Line series takes the basic 1500 rifle and adds a painted stock and Cerakote finish. It comes in three color options: Prairie Reaper, Grey Light, and Scorched Earth. Threaded muzzles are standard, and radial muzzle brakes are also included on the guns. Mini actions in cartridges like 223 and 6mm ARC, short actions, and long actions are all available. The mini action models include detachable proprietary magazines, while the short and long action models include a hinged floorplate.”
Howa has been making the 1500-series action since 1979, so you would expect them to know a thing or two about making a quality product. They back up the Fence Line series with a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects and a sub-MOA precision guarantee.
Howa is distributed in the US by Legacy Sports; head to their website to find a local dealer and compare specs between the various rifles. MSRP on the new rifles starts at $729, well within the range of American bolt guns.
