Photo Of The Day: While the B&T GL06 is well-known, there are virtually no images of the new shorter version called GL06 T. This is a shorter version of the 40 x 46 mm grenade launcher system. The original model was designed 20 years ago, hence the name “06”. With the two models side-by-side, you can clearly see it’s a much more compact version.
Developed with a focus on low weight, modular configuration, and consistent accuracy, the GL06 launcher, paired with SIR (Safe Impact Round) munitions, is intended to deliver precise point-of-aim/point-of-impact performance in less-lethal applications. A rifled barrel is used to stabilize the grenades and enhance both effective range and shot placement, contributing to better munition accountability in public order, law enforcement, and peacekeeping roles. It’s been some time now, but I’ve tried it with a 9mm training system, and it was extremely accurate. I did not try it on drones, they were hardly invented then, but judging from the marketing in B&T’s booth, that’s how it can be used.
The overall length for the new T version is between 429 and 604mm (16.9”-23.8”), depending on the stock. The weight is 2.5kg (5.5 lbs).
