Rock River Arms has introduced a new Retro A1 Carbine SBR, a short-barreled rifle built around a classic AR-15 configuration with modern manufacturing. The new model features a 10.5-inch chrome moly barrel with a CAR-length gas system and is chambered in 5.56 NATO/.223 Remington. It is built on the company’s forged LAR-15M lower receiver and paired with an A1-style carry handle upper, maintaining a traditional fixed-sight setup.
Externally, the rifle follows a retro pattern, including an A1 flash hider with 1/2×28 threading, a fixed front sight base, and triangular A1-style handguards. The platform is offered in two configurations: one with a multi-position M4-style stock (shown below) and another with a fixed entry stock (top image). Both versions include an A1 grip and a single-stage trigger.
The compact dimensions and shorter barrel length are intended to provide improved handling in confined environments, while the classic layout emphasizes simplicity and a familiar manual of arms. The threaded muzzle allows for suppressor compatibility, though no suppressor is included with the rifle. Would you pair a rifle like this with a suppressor, or keep it as a standalone setup?
