The PSA Olcan is a bullpup configuration JAKL rifle. If you hate bullpups, you either don’t care or you’re already making fun of it. If you do like bullpups, you probably have a tingle in your britches. And that’s okay. I like the idea of a JAKL bullpup, too.
Being a cross-platform~ish bastard combo of an AR and an AK, the JAKL is already something of a miscgenation. Now with the Olcan’s bullpup option, it’s even more like the gun version of a Hills Have Eyes mutant. Or at least from the 2006 version.

All that said, the Olcan doesn’t appear – at least at first glance – to be as unwieldy or awkward to manipulate as some models have proven to be. (Not mine, of course.)
This looks like more than “just another bullpup” made available Just Because. And, judging by all the talk on forums and social media, it’s going to be yet another win in the succession of unexpectedly popular PSA products they’re using to dominate the affordable firearm market.
Oh! Grunts: miscegenation

PSA’s initial product launch video went live on December 9th. Take a watch.
“Palmetto State Armory is proud to announce the long-awaited release of the Olcan, the bullpup JAKL Rifle chambered in 5.56 NATO and 300 Blackout! This platform is built around a 6105 monolithic rifle-length upper receiver with a buffer system that is fully captured into the upper receiver. The bullpup lower receiver offers an ambidextrous magazine release and a shorter overall length. The PSA Olcan features a long-stroke piston design with a Carpenter 158 bolt and 4340 carrier that are an AK/AR hybrid. Our Knurled JAKL side charging handle is ambidextrous, allowing the user to change positions to the left or right side of the receiver without the use of tools. Field stripping and removal of the JAKL carrier, recoil assembly, and sled assembly can all be done without tools for effortless cleaning.” PSA, in the video description.
